POSITION TITLE: Childcare Administrator

DEPARTMENT:  Childcare


PAY RATE:  $25.22 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)



The Child Care Administrator will assist the Child Care Manager in managing YCHC’s daycare for YCHC employee children.  This position will be responsible for the submission of reports, oversight and training of child care staff, providing a safe environment for children, and for planning and implementing structured activities that incorporate language and education.  The Child Care Administrator will also assist with budget management and grant implementation. 

This position requires compliance with Health Center’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the position’s regular performance evaluation. 



  • Responsible for providing a safe, nurturing environment for children 0-13 years of age.
  • Responsible for complying with State of Alaska childcare regulations and Yakutat Community Health Center childcare policies and procedures.
  • Provides age appropriate learning activities for children.
  • Provides supervision and direction to other childcare staff.
  • Complete administrative tasks including reporting (as required by the licensing agency and YCHC), scheduling, etc.
  • Maintains all children’s files and makes sure everything is up to date.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.



  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality, able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to incorporate the Tlingit Language into daily care routine is preferred.
  • Exhibits flexibility and shows a willingness to accommodate changing needs.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, organization and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a team approach to problem solving.
  • Experience in working with the Native American population preferred.




  • High school Diploma
  • Minimum of two years previous childcare experience
  • Intermediate or advanced computer skills; experience using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
  • CPR and first aid certifications required
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • 12 credits in early childhood education or scheduled completion within the next year
  • Effective March 15, 2022, as a condition of employment, all individuals must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment with the Yakutat Community Health Center, subject to legally required exemptions.  If selected, you will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and submit proof of vaccination.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska with a clean driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal and background check, and a pre-employment drug screen.
