POSITION SUMMARY: The Wellness Activities Specialist is responsible for providing wellness related services to adults and youth, and actively engaging youth attending the YCHC Wellness afterschool and summer youth wellness activities for children ages 5-12 years. The Wellness Activities Specialist will provide a safe environment for children and will assist the coordinator in planning and implementing structured youth activities that focus on promoting mental, physical and spiritual health. This position requires compliance with the Health Center’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the Wellness Activities Specialist’s regular performance evaluation. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide services and engage directly with adults and youth to strengthen interpersonal relationships and build trust.
  • Work with YCHC's after school program, working with youth ages five (5) to twelve (12).
  • Provide wellness related services to adults
  • Provide age-appropriate activities for children.
  • Create opportunities for wellness activities that promote cultural values and beliefs.
  • Plan and implement youth activities that promote self-advocacy and leadership.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES

  • Track record of delivering on-time, quality standards and within budget.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel software.
  • Establish effective working relationships with internal agency staff and relevant community organizations.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem solving, organization and time management skills.
  • Experience in working with the Native American population preferred.
  • Must be able to work well with others in a team approach to problem solving.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must pass state and federal background check.
  • Demonstrated capacity for working with youth.
  • Experience developing and working with community partners and agencies.
  • Familiarity or experience with wellness and prevention.
  • Experience organizing information and accurately completing forms, surveys, and reports is required.

Must agree to submit to a criminal records history check and must not have been convicted by any jurisdiction for abuse, neglect, or any other crime, including misdemeanors, that would pose a safety or health risk to youth or adults. Participation in training held outside the community will be required.  Possession of good communication and organizational skills, the ability to work courteously with the public, and the willingness to work cooperatively as a team member is highly desired.
